We went in for my 20 week ultrasound today. The big one. The one in which you can see gender clues.
Rodney & I have been torn about if we should find out or continue being surprised. This baby wasn't planned (at least not by us) and since we were surprised about having this baby, we thought we would be surprised with the gender at birth.
We were surprised with Anna Beth at her birth and it was such fun. We planned a gender neutral nursery and had a mostly white layette for her. With Corinne and Lila I really felt the need to find out so that I could plan. They were somewhat cooperative at their big ultrasounds and we were able to find out that they were girls.
With this baby (which WILL be our last - I've already chosen our permanent fix) we want the fun & frivolous option of waiting. But we also want the practical choice of finding out.
So........
I have an envelope with a gender clue photo and label. The envelope is sealed. I want to open it SO badly. I want to shred it SO badly. What is a busy mom to do? Thoughts? Opinions? Please post them so you can help us choose!!!!
Until then, I am patiently (sort of) waiting.....

I vote for OPEN! My reason, other than for the obvious planning advantages, is to involve the girls in the planning, the preparations, the name choosing, etc. That could only make the transition with new baby so much more easier, meaningful and fun...more bonding between every sibling.
When my mother was pregnant with Crystal, I was 15 yrs. old. I was devestated at first that she was pregnant, but the second she allowed me to participate in her arrival, I formed a connection with her. She even let me choose her first name, "Crystal"! The rest is history, obviously. It worked so well, that as soon as I left the house to marry Sam, I asked my mother if Crystal could come with me. ;-)
