Happy Father's Day to my sweet and patient husband. You are an amazing and kind man. I thank you for being such a blessing to me and our three daughters. I also thank you for being such an involved father, always finding the fun in every situation.
The girls went to visit Grandma & Papa last week. R returned from his trip to NJ & I thought it would be great to have some adult time. I also thought it would be a good idea to start the demo on our family room, kitchen, breakfast room floors. To back up a bit, the floor in the family room was damaged beyond repair at Christmas when it pulled away from the foundation. That's what happens with a 30 year old house!
Well, my good idea to get started on the demo was actually a HORRIBLE idea. We thought we could tackle this project to save some money. When our tile guy bid the job, we should have known there was a reason the demo bid was higher than the install bid (install PLUS materials!)
We are nowhere near being finished, but my sweet husband has shown me once again that he can find the humor in any situation. After a LONG day of being beaten up by the power scraper that just pulverized the 30 year old brick tiles that were set in a CEMENT BED on top of the foundation (Thanks, Bill for telling me that I wasn't crazy thinking I was hammering through concrete!), R tells me a funny story. "Honey, you know all of those DIY and HGTV shows we've watched over the years? We've never seen them rip up a tile or brick floor. All they do on those shows is paint and laugh!" It was just the laugh I needed.
In case anyone is wondering, we're considering throwing in the towel and having David (tile guy) come demo & install new floors while we go on vacation. It will be nice to come home to a freshly tiled house. We'll see...
